Ashberry Acres was founded by Leroy Amos in 1978 after he began shoeing harness horses at Northfield Park. He saw a need for a place where race horses could freshen up and escape the high stress environment of the race track. This idea grew quickly and soon his small operation needed to grow along with it. At it's peak capacity the farm has seen as many as 50 horses on hand. Typically, though, occupancy is maintained at around half that. Not having a large amount of horses to care for allows us to provide higher quality and more personalized care for your horses.
The facilities are built completely around the horse to offer a safe and relaxing environment for your race horses to unwind, your mares to nurture their foals and a place where those foals can grow into tomorrow's champions. This is the reason why many well-respected horsemen across the mid-west have trusted us with their investments.
Ashberry Acres is a family operated farm that is dedicated to constantly looking for new and better ways to increase the level of care for all of the resident horses.
